CPABC Honours Copperleaf’s Zahra Kolia with Early Achievement Award

Vancouver, BC, February 29, 2024—Copperleaf® Technologies Inc. (TSX: CPLF) (“Copperleaf” or the “Company”) announces that Vice President, Finance, Zahra Kolia, CPA, CA(SA), has been awarded the 2023 Early Achievement Award by the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC). This award recognizes CPAs who distinguish themselves early in their career through professional achievement and volunteer service.

Zahra joined Copperleaf in 2019 as Senior Accountant, growing to her current role of VP of Finance. She leads key functions within the organization—including financial reporting, revenue, ESG, enterprise risk management, treasury, and tax—and in 2021, played an instrumental role in leading the finance team through a successful IPO.

In 2022, she established the “Copperleaf CPA Experience Program”, which has guided and supported several aspiring CPAs at the company in acquiring requisite competencies for the designation. Zahra is a strong advocate for ESG and drives initiatives that will create positive impact for the company, its clients, and the community.

Zahra also serves as a mentor with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) for aspiring CAs in her home country of South Africa. She is a volunteer member of the Equestrian Canada Finance and Audit Committee, using her professional experience to help the organization promote and advance the sport in Canada.

“Zahra is a natural leader, a passionate advocate for the CPA profession, and is well-known as a mentor to the next generation of finance professionals,” said Chris Allen, Copperleaf CFO & COO. “She is well-deserving of this recognition and an inspiration to other young professionals in the community.”

“I am honored to be selected as one of this year’s Early Achievement Award winners,” added Zahra Kolia. “Achieving the CPA designation has been key to my professional achievements and I’m proud to help elevate the Copperleaf finance team and fortify the CPA profession at large.”

“The 27 CPAs we are honouring this year are representative of exceptional professional success and service to the community at various career stages,” said Lori Mathison, FCPA, FCGA, LLB, president and CEO of CPABC. “The scope in which CPAs are making positive differences to industries, workplaces, and communities is impressive, and our honourees are strong examples of this. It’s my pleasure to congratulate these outstanding 27 professionals on their achievements and I wish them continued success.”

The award recipients will be honored at the CPABC’s Member Recognition Dinner on April 3, 2024. You can view the full list of winners here.
