RheinEnergie Selects Copperleaf for Asset Investment Planning & Management

Vancouver, BC, March 14, 2019—RheinEnergie has selected the Copperleaf® Decision Analytics Solution to optimise its investment portfolios and help improve alignment of its Asset Investment Planning and Management (AIPM) processes with the ISO 55000 standard. Rheinische NETZGesellschaft (RNG), a 100% subsidiary of RheinEnergie AG, manages and operates over 30,000 km of distribution networks for electricity, gas, water, and district heating, for the city of Cologne and surrounding region of Germany.

RNG has voluntarily and proactively set compliance requirements including transparency, unified processes and improved decision-making approaches, in order to ensure alignment to ISO 55000. Capgemini Invent, a global leader in consulting, technology services and digital transformation, and the Copperleaf Customer Experience team began joint implementation of the Copperleaf C55™ solution in January 2019 and completion is scheduled for July 2019.

“We will further improve our investment decision-making processes with the help of Copperleaf,” commented Dr. Ulrich Groß, CEO of RNG. “The solution will provide a standardised, value-based methodology, that supports asset investment planning and portfolio optimisation in the context of 12 different asset owners, 6 operators, and 24 networks.”

“The Copperleaf solution is a key component for RNG to digitise asset management and implement the core requirements of ISO 55000,” said Jan Patrick Linossier, Head of Network Strategy (RNG-N). “With Copperleaf, we can achieve the required transparency and consistency for decision-making in accordance with these standards.”

“We are excited to welcome RNG, our first customer in Germany, to the growing community of European utilities that are embracing Copperleaf,” said Judi Hess, CEO of Copperleaf. “Our solution will help RNG make investment portfolio decisions that are risk-informed, transparent, and aligned to their core strategies.”

“This project win highlights the flexibility of the Copperleaf solution to support a new region with a distinct operating and regulatory environment and a diverse range of asset intensive industries such as electrical, gas, water and heat distribution,” added Stefan Sadnicki, Managing Director, Europe for Copperleaf. “Moreover, RNG will benefit from a German user-interface and our local German-speaking Customer Experience team.”
