Vancouver, BC, June 8, 2017—Northern Gas Networks (NGN) has selected the Copperleaf Decision Analytics Solution to support its asset risk management processes and to enhance decision making for its gas distribution infrastructure.
NGN delivers gas to 2.7 million homes and businesses in the North East, Northern Cumbria and much of Yorkshire, England. With a network comprised of 37,000 km of underground gas pipes, and associated network infrastructure, in addition to an extensive portfolio of non-network assets, NGN was motivated to implement a best practice asset management decision support system to deliver enduring value to its customers and stakeholders.
NGN issued an RFP for an Asset Risk and Value Decision Support System in February 2017, and after a comprehensive review process, selected Copperleaf. The solution will be used to prepare the RIIO-GD2 business plan submission, the strategic asset management plan and the annual asset risk regulatory reporting (NOMs) returns.
“Our partnership with Copperleaf represents the next step in our asset management journey and embedding the capability to ensure we are conscious in our decision making and continue to deliver value to our customers and stakeholders,” said Greg Dodd, Head of Asset Strategy at Northern Gas Networks.
“I’ve been impressed by NGN’s vision to go beyond regulatory compliance and implement a value-based decision making process across their entire investment portfolio,” said Stefan Sadnicki, Copperleaf’s Managing Director, Europe. “Our solution, together with the Copperleaf Value Framework, will empower NGN to make conscious, balanced, value-based decisions that deliver on their strategic objectives.”
Copperleaf CEO Judi Hess added, “NGN is the first Ofgem-regulated utility to take this step forward and all of us at Copperleaf are very excited to be working with them.”
Ofgem is the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets, a non-ministerial government department and the UK independent National Regulatory Authority.
