Vancouver, BC, May 7, 2018—CopperleafTM CEO, Judi Hess, has been chosen as a finalist in the Person of the Year category for this year’s BC Tech Association’s Technology Impact Awards (TIAs). The TIAs celebrate the change makers, the up-and-comers, the innovators, and the bold—those who are transforming our industry and building the fabric of British Columbia’s vibrant tech ecosystem.

The Person of the Year award commemorates an individual who has made a significant entrepreneurial contribution to the BC tech ecosystem in the past year. The selection criteria is an accumulation of personal contributions, bold entrepreneurial risk-taking, mentorship of key talent, and winning in a way that showcases the best of BC Tech culture.

Judi Hess has been contributing to the BC technology sector for over 35 years and continues to drive the industry forward today. She is a recognized product visionary who is leading Copperleaf’s expansion into new market segments and geographies. Under Judi’s leadership, Copperleaf’s revenues have grown by 843% over the past five years and sales have grown by over 100% from 2016 to 2017. Recently, Copperleaf was recognized on numerous occasions for its growth and innovation, including the Top 20 Biggest Software Companies in B.C. by Business in Vancouver magazine, BC Tech’s Adoption of Technology Award, and Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers.

Judi is a strong proponent of women in business, technology, and leadership. During her time as CEO of Copperleaf, she has increased the percentage of female employees from 10% to almost 30%.  A long-time supporter of increasing diversity in the workforce, she was recently featured as one of B.C.’s Most Influential Women in BCBusiness magazine.

“Judi has been the most incredible positive force in the growth of our business, both from a strategic perspective, but perhaps more importantly, in terms of building a positive company culture,” said Miranda Alldritt, Copperleaf Vice President of Customer Experience. “In addition to leading Copperleaf, we really see her giving back broadly to the technology community. She brings that same drive and know-how to her work with many of our peer technology companies and her work with the Premier’s Technology Council and Canada’s Clean Technology Economic Strategy Table.”

The winners of the 25th annual TIAs will be announced on Friday, June 1st at the Technology Impact Awards Gala, to be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
