Feature Article: Copperleaf Ranks 18th on Business in Vancouver's List of Top 100 Fastest-Growing Companies in BCBy Copperleaf
Each year, Business in Vancouver publishes its signature “Fastest 100” feature to recognize companies across the province who have shown remarkable growth over the past five years. This year marks the first time Copperleaf has made it on the list, with a growth in revenue of 291% between 2011 and 2015.
This news comes shortly after the BC Tech Association selected Copperleaf as Emerging Company of the Year. Business in Vancouver‘s Hayley Woodin interviewed Copperleaf CEO Judi Hess, along with Amrik Virk, Minister of Technology, Innovation, and Citizens’ Services, and Bill Tam, President of BC Tech, about the company’s achievements. The feature story is titled “Making the business case for corporate data-driven decisions“.
In this article, Judi describes how Copperleaf’s decision analytics solutions are helping organizations in the energy, water and government sectors move from expert opinion and intuition-based decision making to risk-informed, data-driven decision making:
“We try to put everything on a common economic scale or rationalized scale so that in the end, you can value everything together. That’s our most important thing: get everything on a similar scale so that you can compare an apple to an orange, and have it make sense.”
The B.C. Government recently selected Copperleaf’s C55 software to rationalize and optimize its portfolio of information technology capital investments. According to Minister Virk, once Copperleaf’s technology goes live in October, it will help the government make approximately $430 million in IT investment decisions across ministries. He concludes:
“When you’re making decisions at that level, with systems that are going to be around for multiple, multiple years, I think you’ve got to get it right.”
